About Us Yesterday & Today

Although the line up has changed a little over the years, Steve and Mike, two of the founding members continue to lead the band into 2008 and beyond. This section of the site is here to give you a little background information on the group - where they've been, where they're going.. In the early days Come Together were heavily influenced by The Beatles, performing many popular hits by the Fab Four. In fact, Come Together became well known for their Beatles show, although they didn't dress up as the Beatles - They just tried to perform the music the best they could. Come Together's Beatles show sold out at numerous gigs in Worcester and Kidderminster with many people enjoying their interpretation of classic songs. The club period lasted about 18 months - it wasn't really what Come Together
wanted to do, but it did help the band to become musically very tight. Here followed a really busy twelve months, with the band performing all over the Midlands. In 2003 both Jon and Sacha decided to leave the band to pursue other musical avenues. Here started a period of real disruption for Come Together, with remaining members, Steve and Mike struggling to replace such valued members of the band. Thankfully, close friends of the band, Marc Hammond of 'The Disciples', Chris Downton and Tim Mason, both of 'Reflex' jumped to their rescue and helped the band through the best part of 2004. The band continued with various temporary members well into the spring of 2005 when their fortunes changed. Contact was made with local established drummer, Rich Shelton, and bass player, Simon Jones. Rich and Simon proved to be exactly what Come Together needed. They soon became permanent members of the band and Come Together was able to move forward again. In late 2005, Come Together were further strenghten by the introduction of Jules Benjamin on keyboards, guitar and vocals. Jules is a well known local musician who has released many albums in his own right. Jules also has his own recording studio 'Mint Music' situated above the 'Marrs Bar' in Worcester which is available for hire. 2005 was a great year for the band - finally finding a stable line up again, and gaining the talents of Mr Benjamin, but the highlight of 2005 was undoubtedly in August when they performed at the wedding of 'Midlands Today' presenter, Sarah Faulkland. Sarah heard about the band on the 'grapevine' and only needed to see them once before booking them for her special day. Fittingly, The year was topped off in style with a sellout night at Drummonds on New Years Eve. It was great to see them back where they belong at Worcester's best live music venue, on the biggest night of the year. 2006 started as 2005 finished, with the band continuing to strengthen with their new lineup. Come Together would like to thank Les Ames (Bass), and Simon Ramsden (Drums) both of 'The Beatless' for helping out on a number of gigs this year, and again, Tim Mason, and Sacha Eldridge for stepping into the breach - It's great to have the opportunity to play with you guys again! Simon Ramsden now plays 'Ringo' with Nottingham based 'The Beatles Experience', a fantastic tribute to the Fab Four! The higlight of 2006 was a weekend away at The Royal Artillery, Woolwich, London in July. Come Together played at the annual Regimental dinner dance. The band has been inundated with compliments following their performance, which finally came to a close at 3am! I suspect that Come Together may be making a return trip sometime soon.. 2007; Things are looking great for the band in 2007, with them continuing to build upon the successes of 2006. The public diary is filling up nicely, given that it's so early in the year - Plenty of places to see them if you're thinking of booking them for your Party or Wedding. Don't leave it too long though - the band's private function diary is also filling up so this could be one of their busiest years to date! - get in contact soon to avoid being disapointed!
2007 Update (28/06/07) As predicted, 2007 was one of the busiest years so far - Come Together were inundated with weddings and parties Come T ogether were priviledged to play at the Awards Night at Worcester Rugby Football Club. It was a great night with the Band, a disco, a 'Robbie Williams' tribute and a Magician. It was a fantastic night - have a look at the photos which can be viewed via our links. Come Together were excited to be travelling back to The Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, London. Following their successful gig there last year, it was another late night and lots of red eye on Sunday morning..! Personnel Update Come Together would like to personally thank Richard Shelton for all of his contribution to the band. After nearly three years, Rich is leaving to pursue other musicial avenues - no doubt, he'll be back to stand in at some point! If you want to catch up with Rich, he is playing with 'The Sarah Warren Band', a great blues influenced quartet. Thanks again Rich. As of 30th June 2007, Simon Ramsden joins Come Together fulltime on Drums and Vocals. Simon has been known to the guys for over 15 years and Steve had the pleasure of playing with him in 'The B'Alls', a great little Worcester band from the mid 90's (time for a reunion yet?) Simon has a great pedigree having played all over the world with a number of bands including 'The Beatless' a fantastic Beatles tribute act from Worcester (I'm sure any local people will remember them!) Whilst the guys are really sad to see Rich leave, Come Together are chuffed to have Simon coming into the band are many years of asking! Great News! Come Together confirmed for New Years Eve 2007 at Drummonds, New St, Worcester!!!
2008 All change again!! Simon has been missing his 'Beatle' roots and has decided to return to Liverpool to continue with 'Ringo' whilst he can still get away with wearing the gear! and good luck to him. This is a shame for Come Together, but on the upside, it has allowed them to bring in Simon Hart, an excellent Worcester drummer, and close friend of the band. You may notice that there hasn't been many public gigs this year - This is purely due to other work commitments. Come Together are still going strong and available for parties, weddings and alike. Come Together have recently improved the variety of disco music available using a laptop based DJ package. If there is a wireless connection then they can download pretty much any song you want, instantaneously! Come Together continue to be the leading cover's band in the Worcester area, whilst continually making new friends and contacts throughout the Country. The future - who can say? But, this is known; Come Together do not intend to hang up their guitars and drum sticks anytime soon.. They will continue to move forward, and wholly intend to be here in ten years time, still leading the way, still enjoying playing, and still enjoying the atmosphere that kept them going for the last eight years. Come Together have always supported local charities through free performances and services, and will continue to do so with pleasure. Please contact Come Together via the links page should you wish to discuss availability for charity events. Come Together would like to thank you for taking the time to view the site, and for your interest in the band. |
